STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

I am Genesis Julyus T. Agcaoili, a graduate of Master of Science in Biology in De La

Salle University. My line of expertise are in microbiology, genetics, nano-biotechnology
and cancer research. I am a young professional inclined with science, technology, and
research and innovations. During my masters course, I was able to perform gel
electrophoresis, DNA sequencing, RT-PCR, and different microbial assay to test a certain
metabolites from bacteria. Moreover, during the course of my study, I have developed an
in-depth understanding in drug development for cancer and the use and mechanism of
nanoparticles derived from plant-based extracts. I am very interested on the
characterization, isolation, and biodiversity of bacteria from traditional fermented
products as a continuation of my study done in my masters degree. If accepted into the
program, I plan to study the mechanism and regulation of different cancer-related
molecules isolated from bacterial secondary metabolites.

I believe that the research expertise and skills of the research faculty will help me in my
