Day 1
Australia – Delhi
Today you’ll depart Sydney for Delhi. Fly with either Cathay
Pacific, China Southern Airlines, Virgin Airways or Singapore
Airlines (subject to availability).
Once you arrive you’ll be met by a representative at the
airport. You’ll be taken to your hotel where you’ll receive your
tour programme.
Due to flight scheduling and availability, some departures
may occur on day 0. Affected customers must be at the airport
the night before. Flight times will be indicated on your final
documents at least 4 weeks prior to departure.

Day 2
Welcome to Delhi
After breakfast, start a city tour of old and new Delhi visiting Raj
Ghat, where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated, Red Fort, made
famous by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, and Jama Masjid – the
largest mosque in India. With three great gateways, four angle
towers and two minarets constructed of alternating vertical strips
of red sandstone and white marble, it’s a sight to behold.
After wandering Chandni Chowk, the main street of old Delhi
in the colourful shopping bazaar, you’ll travel to Laxminarayan
Temple, a site dedicated to Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity
and good fortune. The tour continues with a visit to Rashtrapati
Bhawan, the palace-like building home to the President of India.
Afterwards visit the beautiful Lotus Temple, also known as the
Bahai Temple. Adherents of any faith can visit, pray or meditate.

Day 3
Delhi – Jaipur
This morning you’re off to Jaipur, and once you arrive you’ll check
into your hotel. The picturesque capital of Rajasthan is instantly
recognisable for its pink-washed buildings, a colour associated
with hospitality in Rajput culture. This beautiful city, along with
Agra and Delhi, form what is known as the Golden Triangle of
India’s tourist circuit. Jaipur is a city where royalty still lives in
the grandeur of its palaces, where fighting for the honour of the
clan has never been a need but a way of life, and where treating
guests as gods has been a longstanding tradition.

Day 4
Jaipur city tour and Amber Fort
Enjoy a full day sightseeing tour of Jaipur, starting off with a
morning excursion to Amber Fort. Amber Fort is located 11km
from Jaipur and was the old fort of the Kachwaha clan of
Amber. The fort is built with white marble and red sandstone
and all the more attractive because of the Maota Lake in the
foreground. This afternoon take part in a city tour visiting the
City Palace, the former royal residence built in a blend of the
Rajasthani and Mughal styles. You’ll also visit Lakshmi Narayan
Temple and enjoy a sari and turban tying demonstration.

Day 5
Jaipur – Fatehpur Sikri – Agra
On the way to Agra after breakfast, you’ll visit Fatehpur Sikri, a
UNESCO world heritage site due to its stunning imperial complex
of pavilions and palaces. Once you arrive in Agra, you’ll check into
your hotel and spend the rest of the day however you like.

Day 6
Agra – Taj Mahal – Delhi
After breakfast enjoy a city tour visiting the Taj Mahal, built by
the Moghul Emperor Shahjehan in 1630 for his queen Mumtaz
Mahal to enshrine her mortal remains. In the afternoon depart to
Delhi, and on arrival check-in to your hotel.

Day 7
Delhi – Bagdogra – Darjeeling
After breakfast, you’ll go to the airport for your flight to Bagdogra.
Upon arrival, a representative will welcome and escort you
by private chauffeur to Darjeeling. Darjeeling is a famous hill
resort offering a breath-taking sight of the numerous peaks of
the majestic Himalayas. The views of Kanchenjunga and Mount
Everest are particularly inspiring, and viewing the sunrise is
wonderful from the famous Tiger hill.

Day 8
Darjeeling – Tiger Hill – Darjeeling
Take in the sunrise from Tiger Hill and see Ghoom Monastery.
After breakfast you’ll head out on a city tour of Darjeeling
where you’ll see a visible imprint of the British in its lifestyle,
garden tea-estates and hotels. Visit the Race Course, Lablong
village, The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and the house
of Tenzing Norgay - the first Everest hero. Also see endangered
Himalayan wolves and red pandas at a visit to the Padmaja
Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park. In the afternoon, a visit to a tea
garden takes you on an educational tour of the entire process of
tea planting to manufacturing.

Day 9
Darjeeling – Gangtok
After breakfast depart for Gangtok, on arrival check-in to your
hotel. Gangtok is the capital city of Sikkim, the second smallest
state of India. Famous for its many important monasteries, and
for the picturesque views of the Himalayas, Gangtok is one of the
important hill stations of the country. Here, see a smooth blend
of both tradition and modernity. Located at an altitude of 1547m
above sea level, Gangtok houses some of the most important
Buddhist religious sites too. The existence of the peaceful
Chortens or Stupas, old monasteries and the unspoilt natural
beauty of Gangtok offers you a truly unique travelling experience.

Gangtok – Tsomgo Lake – Gangtok city tour
Today, visit the stunning Tsomgo Lake if weather permits, located
35 km from Gangtok, and at an altitude of 12,000 ft. Embedded
in steep and rugged mountain terrain, the lake is covered with
snow from early winter to late spring. Associated with many
legends and myths, Tsomgo is regarded as holy by the Sikkimese.
Rides on colourfully decorated yaks and mules are offered at the
lake site (optional activity), which also has a variety of food stalls.
In the afternoon take a city tour visiting Do Drul Chorten, the
solitary temple or the Enchey monastery, The Namgyal Institute
of Research and the Tsuk la Khang, a depository of a large
collection of scriptures and the principal place of worship for the

Ganges boat cruise – Varanasi city tour Arrive in Australia
Enjoy an early morning boat cruise on the river Ganges. The
banks of the Ganges are considered to be a sacred river by the
Hindus and is the centre of much of the religious activity that
occurs in the city. The ghats built along the banks of the river for
such religious activity also form a major source of attraction here.
After breakfast, take a city tour of Varanasi temples. Some other
interesting places to visit around the city are Alamgir Mosque,
Durga Temple, Vishwanat Temple, Bharat Mata temple, Tulsi
Manas Temple, Banaras Hindu University and the Archaeological
Museum. In the afternoon enjoy an excursion to the city of
Sarnath, just 10 km from Varanasi. Sarnath is a highly revered

Tour Guide vs Tour Leader
Tour Guide:
Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and
history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour,
and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed,
qualified expert who supplies specific information on history, art,
architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction in which
he or she is guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the
required place and leaves the group at the end of the tour, they
do not travel with the group.
Tour Leader:
An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth
operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to
passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily
includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between
locations, and communication with tour guides in each stop.
A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or
village, and offer information on the place visited on the bus,
however they are not required to have specific knowledge on art,
architecture, or history. They are not allowed to provide a guided
tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and if
caught doing so, can be fined.
Please note: tour leaders/guides are not a standard inclusion in
all travel offers. Tour leaders/guides will only be made available
when particularly required to enhance the experience of the
destination featured.
