Introduction to the exam-

Common management admission test (CMAT) is an online


computer based test conducted by AICTE for admission to all
management programs approved by AICTE. The test was
introduced in 2012. And in 2014 first CMAT was held between
20 February to 24 February. Around 1.2 lakhs students
participated in the test.
Structure of the exam-
CMAT is a three hour online test which is conducted in single
session to evaluate the candidate’s ability across various
segments like quantities ability, logical reasoning, language
comprehension and general awareness. . The test will consists
of 100 questions which to be done in 180 minutes. There are 25
questions in each section. Each correct answer carries four
marks and each wrong answer will carry one negative marking.
All questions are objective type questions. The quantitative and
data interpretation section has questions with a difficulty level
of moderate to difficult. The difficulty level changes every year
Verbal ability is a balanced section and covers all the broad
topics ranging from Reading Comprehension, Idioms,
Vocabulary, Para Jumbles, Fill in the Blanks, Critical Reasoning,
Analogy, Sentence Rearrangement, FIJs and Para Jumbles.
General knowledge section is divided into two categories:
current and static.it comprises of 25 questions. Difficulty level
fluctuates every year.
The eligibility criteria-
Candidates who are in final year of bachelor degree (10+2+3)
program or have been completed bachelor’s degree from any
recognized institute with minimum 50% can apply for CMAT.
Reserved category students have the relaxation of 5% with a
minimum of 45% can apply for CMAT. There is no age limit for
CMAT exam. The candidate must be a citizen of India.
How to apply-
The fees for general candidates is rs1400 +bank charges and for
female students /sc/st/pwd/obc candidate’s fees is rs700 +bank
charges applicable. Candidates who are appearing for CMAT
have to pay fees online through debit cards, credit cards or net
banking or through bank challan at SBI. Fees cannot be paid
through bank demand draft or cheque. Online registration for
CMAT will begin from 20 October 2017 and closes on 18

Candidates appearing for test in India will need to bring the
following identification documents on the test day:
a) SELF ATTESTED COPY of CMAT 2018 Admit Card with recent
passport size photo pasted on it.
b) At least one original (not photocopied / scanned copy) and
valid (not expired) photo identification. The name on your
photo identification must match your name as entered in the
CMAT application. Acceptable forms of photo identification
types are limited to Driver's license, Passport, PAN Card, Voter
ID, UID card or a notarized Affidavit (in English) with Photo,
Signature, Date of Birth and Residential Address. Photocopies
of the original are not acceptable. Candidates will not be
permitted to take the test if photo identification is not
presented. SC/ST candidates are required to bring the valid
caste certificate in Original and an ATTESTED photocopy.
Physically Disabled candidates are required to bring the valid
Disability certificate in Original and an ATTESTED photocopy.
ATTESTATION CAN BE DONE BY INSTITUTE HEAD ALSO
Note: You will have to store all other personal items at the test
center at your own risk. Please do not bring any other items to
the test center, as they are not permitted into the testing
center. Admit card will be available for view and print from
Monday, 5th January 2018, onwards. You will have to log onto
the CMAT website with your registered User ID. You will be
eligible for an Admit Card only upon submission of online
application form. I belong to SC/ST category. How many seats in
M. Pharmacy are reserved for SC/ST category students? or If I
qualify in GPAT 2018 Examination then am I assured of
scholarship in M. Pharmacy?
Admission procedure-
After cmat results, the cmat procedure is been conducted by
the participating institutes. The whole procedure is based on
the cut off of different institutes. The procedure will be held
only for those candidates who have secured marks as per the
cutoff of different institutes and accordingly candidates will be
selected for further rounds.
