Short-term Elder Care Technical Training Program

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
With the global population rapidly aging, the
medical and health industries, both national
and international, view improving the quality
of long-term and geriatric care personnel as a
top priority. To meet demand, the long-term
care industry must provide a large number of
personnel for direct and indirect long-term
care. To improve the quality of such care,
professional, semi-professional and
non-professional workers all need education,
periodic on-the-job training and continuing
education. With countries around the world
facing a shortage of professional long-term
care personnel, they must supplement their existing workforce through international recruitment, as
well as develop training programs that can serve as a pipeline for producing long-term care
professional personnel.

To cultivate qualified professional Indonesian caregivers, this program offers students a chance to
develop skills through practical clinical work experience. Course content will integrate general
features of Taiwanese elder care practice with techniques for patients with particular diseases, in
cooperation with reputable institutions in Taiwan. The program will prepare trainees for domestic or
international employment. It will also prepare them to train other Indonesian care workers,
practitioners and professionals interested in developing the country’s domestic long-term care
industry, as well as prepare them to become leaders in promoting advanced elder care techniques
worldwide.
