TRADITIONS OF HONDURAS

Honduras has various customs and traditions among them can be mentioned the
following:

The patroness of Honduras is the Virgin of Suyapa, on February 3 is her day and
many people make the requests to the virgin and if it fulfills these people make
promises such as smoking cessation, among others.

On December 31 the so-called "Old Year" is made which is a doll made of old
clothes, stuffed with newspaper and also fireworks and lights up at midnight and
represents the year that happened.

Also the tradition of the fogaratas is realized which consists in that a group of
people gathers to tell stories of purely Honduran fear, for example the dirty one,
that is a woman (ghost) that appears in the ravines and attracts the men who They
go out partying.

TRADITIONS OF GUATEMALA

Easter or Greater Week

This is celebrated every year between March and April. It is a period of 7 days that
begins on Palm Sunday and ends on Easter Sunday.

Holy Week is preceded by Lent which refers to the time of preparation where the
40 days of Jesus Christ are remembered in the desert.

The religious propose that this time be used for prayer and reflection, in order to
review their actions and the changes they must have to get closer to God and fulfill
his commandments.
The inns

They are popular celebrations with which remembers the andanza of San Jose
with the Virgin Mary next to give birth to the baby Jesus. It was initiated by Brother
Pedro in Santiago de Guatemala, in imitation of what Friar José de Moreira was
doing on Christmas Eve, inside the convent in the cells of the novitiate.

Every year at the beginning of the night of December 24, Brother Pedro used to

Dolores's Strike

TRADITIONS OF EL SALVADOR

August Holidays (August 6)

also called (Augustinian Festivals) are the festivities "

fair.

campus with their bands and groups of cheerleaders. Each group carries the flag
of El Salvador and the flag of their school. A special ceremony is also held in Plaza
Libertad located in the center of San Salvador where the President of the Republic,
accompanied by members of his cabinet, addresses a message alluding to the
nation.

The Day of the Race (October 12)

This day marks the sighting of land by the sailor Rodrigo de Triana in 1492, after
having sailed for more than two months under the command of Christopher
Columbus. This land would later be called America. Government and private
offices are closed for the Day of the Race. People stay at home resting or go out
