Guidelines:

1. Find out the position of your co. in today’s world in global context
a. Parameters for deciding the position
i. Industry, position in industry,(leader, follower, adapter, also ran), cost
leader, differentiator
ii. What are the uncertainties faced by the organization in last 5 years and
what kind of uncertainties you envisage organization facing in next 10
yrs. How would you develop strategies to manage these uncertainties

2. Find out the competitors of your organization


a. Does your organization and its competitors have any competitive advantage?
b. What are these competitive advantages and are they sustainable or not? If yes
how, if not why?
i. How would you nullify your competitors’ advantages and how can your
competitors can nullify your advantages
ii. Find out value addition by your organization and your competitors
iii. Conduct activity analysis of your organization vis a vis your competitors
and advise how can you increase the Willingness to pay of your
organizational product/service
iv. How does it impact strategic position
v. Create an advantage matrix
vi. Create market life cycle-Competitive strength matrix

3. What are the competitive moves that your organization can make to achieve its
strategies as envisaged at point #1
a. Envisage the response of your competitors to your moves by using game
theory and competitor profiling
b. Use Tetra threat framework

4. Competitive dynamics- analysis thereof


a. Moves and counter moves (retaliation possibilities)
i. Analysis of possible attacking moves
ii. Analysis of possible retaliatory moves
iii. Reasons thereof
5. How would you protect your organizations product/service from being commoditized?
Give specific moves/plans

6. How would you respond should it become clear that you need to exit your present
industry?
a. Strategies when all other strategies fail
