ENTRY LEVEL POSITIONS INTO THE FIELDS OF STOREKEEPING AND


WAREHOUSE OPERATIONS:

Stock Worker

Typical Job Duties – Performs manual and clerical duties in filling and packing orders and
placing stock in storage.

Minimum Entrance Requirements – Be able to stand and walk on concrete floors for extended
periods of time, and lift and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds. Graduation from high
school or evidence of equivalent educational proficiency. Six months of experience in
receiving, storing, or issuing equipment or supplies, or completion of an adult school class in
general warehousing or a formal warehousing training program.

Stock Clerk

Typical Job Duties – Performs manual and clerical duties in connection with the ordering,
receiving, storing, and distributing of food, supplies, and equipment in a large warehouse; or
has immediate responsibility for one or more supply operations at smaller locations.

Minimum Entrance Requirements – Be able to safely lift and move items weighing up to 65
pounds, and stand and walk on concrete floors for extended periods. Have the manual
dexterity to operate material-handling equipment. Graduation from high school or evidence of
equivalent educational proficiency. One year of experience in receiving, inspecting, storing, or
issuing supplies and equipment.

Forklift Operator

Typical Job Duties – Operates a forklift or narrow-aisle stacker to move and place materials
and equipment to and from storage or trucks.

Minimum Entrance Requirements – Be able to safely lift and carry heavy supplies and
equipment weighing up to 65 pounds. Have the visual acuity to read detailed documents and
numerical sequences accurately, and the motor ability and depth perception required to operate
a forklift and stacker. Three months of experience in operating a forklift or similar equipment
on a regularly assigned basis, preferably in a warehouse situation; or possession of a certificate
of completion of the Los Angeles Unified School District forklift in-service training course.
