Chemung.
- M . S Manning and (sister, Mrs. A. Bovier, are spending a few days with relatives in
Tunkannock, PA.
- A union company of lodges and Sunday schools will hold a picnic in Decker's grove,
Saturday, September 18th.
- At tbe residence of George W. Foulke on September 9th. by Rev. C. E. Ferguson, Mr.
John Wood, of East Waverly, was united In marriage to Miss Cora Foulke of Chemung.
—Tbe gentleman on Dry Brook, who keeps a service pig, should have a sense of pride
enough to provide a proper place for his exclusion from public view. It has been an open
disgrace for several years past, and he is now asked to abate it~peacefully if he will-but
by law, if he does not heed this warning.

- Benjamin VanAtta is spending some time with his daughter.
- Ella Beckwlth, of Elmira, visited friends in this place the last of the week.
- Elmer Warren and wife, of Oak Hill, called on friends in this place last Sunday.
- John Crowley, of New York, is visiting his old home and friends for a few days.
- Charles Green is now taking headers from the periphery of the circular steed he is
trying to master. September 10, 1891

Putnam Hill. September 10, 1881.


—School will commence in District No. 7, September 14th.
—Miss Mattie Grace commenced her school in the Miller Hollow district this week.
—Mr. and Mrs. E. Price and Mrs Amy Drake visted at George Peppard's on Sunday.
—Mr. and Mrs. Robert Simcoe visited at his brother John's, near Chemung, on Friday. —
J. G. Lenox, La Monte and Hattie Lenox attended the Interstate Fair in Elmlra on
Monday.
—Mrs. M. W. Simcoe and Miss Rose Slmcoe were in Elmlra on Friday and Saturday of
last week.
—Mr. H. Price is not so well as usual at the present writing, but we hope soon to see him
restored to good health.
—Mrs. Katie Simcoe has a scrofulous swelling in her hand, which is exceedingly
painful, and renders that member, for the present useless.
—The meetings now in progress at Owen's Mills, and which are conducted by Rev. Mr.
Carpenter of Chemung, are well attended by people from this place.
