Repair Guide for R40 problem

1.Maintenance Margin:
R40 cannot perform brings: SPA5300 no‐
output or unstable Volume or SPK output with 
noice 
2. Tools for repair:  electric iron ,screw driver  
and multimeter

3.Sources for repair： R40 (10Ω 1/16W +/‐5%

a.Remove the 4pcs of screws which are on the backside of the product, then 
open the end cap, as:

b.To measure direct voltage(Vout) of TL7809 IC which  on the PCBA and 
R40’s lift side direct voltage(Vr), as:

4.Steps for repair:
c.If the test result shows Vout<8.5V  and Vr>19V，then  there is R40 
failure，remove the R40by using the electic iron，and change a new one 
(make sure there is a seccssful welding),as

R40

If the R40 is operating normally, then there should be another problem for  
the broken product, pleace send it back to Philips for anaylsis.
4.Steps for repair:
d.Check the Vout again after repair, if Vout>8.5V,then the problem is 
repaired；if not， then there should be another problem for  the broken 
product, pleace send it back to Philips for anaylsis
e.Reset the product，and do a sound test. If the sound without nioce, or 
the volume is stable, then the product is repaired.  Repackage the product 
and send back to the customer. 
If the problem is still here, then there should be another problem for  the 
broken product, pleace send it back to Philips for anaylsis.
