SET 2

You stayed up to study for your examination and when you were going to sleep,
you heard some noise from your neighbour’s house. You looked out and you saw
a mysterious guy trying to break into your neighbour’s house. Write a recount
about the whole incident.

Last Sunday night, I was burning the midnight oil to prepare for my final year
examination. I needed to make sure that I could score well in all my papers in order to get a
scholarship. When the clock finally struck twelve, I was too tired that I decided to go to bed.

While I was getting ready to bed, I heard some noise coming from our neighbour’s
house. I was curious as my neighbours normally slept early. I went to the
window to check. When I looked out, I saw a mysterious guy. He wore black shirt and his face
was covered. He had a flashlight and a stick in his hand. He was trying
to break into my neighbour’s house!

I was stunned and I did not know what to do. I ran to my parents’ room as fast as I
could. I woke my parents up and told them everything I saw. My dad rang the police station to
report the incident while we tried our best to reach out to our neighbour. Unfortunately, Mr.
Salim was not picking up his mobile phone. He must be sleeping like a log!

The mysterious guy was now nowhere to be seen. He must have found his way into the
house. Thank God the police officers arrived in five minutes. They surrounded the house so that
they guy had nowhere else to run. Two police officers rushed in and caught him red-handed. He
was trying to steal Mr. Salim’s laptop and other valuable items. The police went upstairs and
found Mr. Salim and his wife. They woke up because of the loud noises and had no idea that
someone had broken into their house.

Mr. Salim was so glad that we saw whole thing and reported to the police. Mr. Salim
thanked me and praised me for being brave. I was relieved that everyone was safe and nothing
was stolen from Mr. Salim’s house. The mysterious guy is now taken by the police and I learnt
that home safety is really important. We need to make sure that everything is locked up before
we go to bed. I hope things like this will not happen again.

We Didn’t Mean to Go to Sea.

The novel that I have chosen is We Didn’t Mean to Go to Sea. A lesson that I have learnt
from the novel is we should do our best to protect people we care about.

We can learn this form John. He makes sure his siblings are safe when they fight with
the big winds and waves. Although John feels tired and the weather is not helping him, he does
not stop fighting against the storm. He tries his hardest to steer the yacht to the right direction.

As for Jim, he does not care about his own pain and he rushes back to the harbour to
look for the children. When he cannot find them, he feels bad and
wants to apologise to Mrs. Walker.

Lastly, we can also learn this from Commander Walker. He does not want his wife to
worry so he sends a telegram to his friend in Shotley and asks his friend to
send a telegram to Mother so that Mother will think that the children have sent a telegram
from Shotley. He also takes over to steer the yacht because he knows John is tired.

Overall, I think we should all learn from the characters I’ve discussed above and do out
best to protect people we love.
