Kitchen Shears are specially-


designed scissors for the
kitchen. They are not shaped
like regular scissors; they
are shaped like shears. Some
are specially made for poultry and fish, with
one of their blades being a serrated one to help
cut through flesh such as chicken joints or fish
fillets. Some will have handles covered in
rubber. Some have a bottle opener in the handle.
Some models screw apart at the hinge for easier
cleaning.

A spatula is a small
cooking implement with a
wide, flat, flexible blade
that is used for mixing,
spreading, and turning.

A wooden spoon is a spoon that is


used for stirring sauces and for
mixing ingredients in cooking. It
is made of wood and has a long
handle.
Measuring cups are used for precisely measuring
the volume of liquid or solid cooking
ingredients. You may not think that measuring
cups can be anything special.

Portion Scale is a kitchen


device used to measure the
weight of ingredients and other
food. Kitchen scales are
available in balance or spring
models. A balance scale will
give a more accurate reading
than a spring scale. Using a scale will result
in a more accurate measurement of the
ingredients than by measuring it by volume.

A butcher knife or butcher's
knife is a knife designed
and used primarily for the
butchering or dressing of
animal carcases. From the
late 18th century to the
mid-1840s, the butcher knife
was a key tool for mountain men. Simple, useful
and cheap to produce, they were used for
everything from skinning beaver, cutting food,
self-defense, and scalping.

This all-purpose knife is
used for a variety of
chopping, slicing, and
mincing chores. The blade is
normally 8 to 12 inches long.
