SWOT Analysis of PTCL

Strengths:

1. Oldest Telecommunication Company of Pakistan founded in 1947.


2. All the telecommunication companies operating in Pakistan directly or indirectly depend
upon PTCL network
3. PTCL can be used as a backup network if mobile networks are down due to any reasons.
4. It has been offering speedy internet DSL connection to the customers and also offers
concessions to the students.
5. PTCL is offering multiple services which include TV, Internet and Telephone using local
loop.
6. PTCL is the largest landline network of Pakistan.

Weaknesses:

1. PTCL has flat organization structure.


2. It has bureaucratic environment.
3. PTCL has extra employee overhead due to extra hiring.
4. Customer service is very poor especially in internet services.
5. Functional units in PTCL are not well organized.
6. Weak marketing of new services.
7. There is lack of technical staff in DSL technical support.

Opportunities:

1. Joint ventures with other telecommunication companies for introducing new services.
2. Improvement in customer service.
3. Hire technical staff to reduce the level of DSL issues in order to increase customer
satisfaction.
4. Proper planning and implementation is required to improve wireless PTCL and EVO
services in Pakistan.
5. Aggressive marketing is required to promote offered services and give hard time to
competitors.
6. They can increase market share of internet services.

Threats:

1. Strong competition from Telecommunication Companies.


2. Energy crisis throughout the country.
3. Rapid raise in Government taxes.
4. Cyber-crimes percentage is increasing.
5. Inflation in country may increase the cost of services which will finally transferred to
customers.
6. Inconsistent decisions by company management
7. Security issues.
