Q& A For Operator.

How do you perform machining operation?

From daily plan I know the heat number to be machined and the program number
for the machining operation.
Production in-charge or his designee will give the casting along with
 process control sheet\report,
 route card,
 Quality plan
For machining operation.
Before starting the machining operation the program will be verified for process
control sheet.
If program is not as per process control sheet\report, I call the programmer he will
modify it and give me.
After machining, the dimensions will be measured and entered in process control
sheet\report. Machining process supervisor will verify it.

1. Do you inspect the casting dimensions at each stage of machining?

Yes it is done by Machining process supervisor after I complete each stage of
machining.

2. what will you do when the machined dimensions do not meet the process
control sheet\report.
I fill that dimensions in process control sheet\report and inform Machining
process supervisor regarding the error.

3. How do you get the measuring instruments for machining?

I get all instruments mentioned in machining process control sheet \report from
sub-store through “Machining Tool Issue Register”.

4. On what basis you select the clamping tools, tool holder, cutting
parameters…….?
All the machining tools required, clamping details, parameters of machining will
be given in machining process control sheet/report.

5. Do you perform NDE inspection during machining?

No. I do not perform any NDE. But when there is any surface discontinuity
visually, I will inform Machining process supervisor before carrying out next
operation.

4. How are machining requirements communicated to you?

Through machining process control sheet\report & quality plan.
