(Please be sure to back up your files before updating the firmware) Note: a. This procedure will initialize the player, and will restore settings to default values. For the safety of your data, please copy your music, videos, recordings, or other files to a computer, and take out the memory card before proceeding. b. DO NOT connect your player to any USB hubs, repeaters, or extension cables, including the USB ports on your monitor or keyboard. Upgrade Procedure: 1. Download the latest firmware upgrade package from the Transcend Download Center and extract the upgrade.fwu and upgrade.upg file 2. Connect the MP860 to your computer and transfer “upgrade.fwu” and “upgrade.upg” to the player’s root directory. 3. Click the “Safely Remove USB Mass Storage Device” at the bottom right corner of your screen. The update process will begin automatically. (Caution! Do not disconnect the MP860 from your computer’s USB port until the update process is complete) 4. The upgrade process takes about 3 minutes. Upon successful completion of the firmware update, the MP860 will automatically restart. 5. From the MP860 Main Menu, select “Player Information” to confirm the player has been updated to the new firmware. 6. NOTE: If your MP860 does not automatically restart after X minutes, please disconnect the player from your computer and use a paperclip or pencil to press and hold the player’s “RESET” button down for 3~5 seconds, then try the Upgrade Procedure again.
