SoundTouch® Software Update


This page contains the current software version for your SoundTouch® system. Please follow these instructions to update the software for your system.
You need a USB drive to complete the update (Minimum 2GB thumb drive (FAT32 formatted).

SoundTouch® 30 system
SoundTouch® 20 system
SoundTouch® 10 system Note: If you are updating a SoundTouch® 10 system, you also need a female USB A to male micro USB A adapter. You can
purchase the adapter from Bose (part number: 356138-0010) or from an electronics retailer.

SoundTouch® Portable Note: If you are updating a SoundTouch® Portable system, you also need a female USB A to male micro USB A adapter. You
can purchase the adapter from Bose (part number: 356138-0010) or from an electronics retailer.

1. Download the software update file for your system

Select your system.


This downloads the software update file onto your computer.

At the prompt, click SAVE. Save the Update.stu file to your desktop.

Note: If you do not see the prompt, the file may have downloaded automatically. Look for the Update.stu file in the footer or header of your browser’s
window, or in your Downloads folder.

2. Copy the software update file onto a USB drive

Insert a USB drive into a USB port on your computer.

Copy the Update.stu file onto the USB drive.

Eject the USB drive from the USB port.

3. Update your SoundTouch® system to the latest software version

Insert the USB drive into the SETUP B connector on your system.

Unplug the power cord from your system.

On the system’s button pad, press and hold the "4" and the volume-down buttons while plugging the power cord back into your system.
This screen appears indicating Software Update Mode.

Release the buttons.

The system updates and reboots. This takes less than five minutes.

Remove the USB drive from the SETUP B connector.

4. Confirm the software update

After the system reboots, check the software version on your system.

On the system’s button pad, press and hold the "5" and volume-down buttons until the system information appears on the display.

Make sure that the software version number listed matches the software version that you downloaded from the SoundTouch® Software Update
page.

Press the volume-up or volume-down button to scroll to the 4.2 Firmware screen.

Make sure that the software version number listed matches the software version that you downloaded from the SoundTouch® Software Update
page.

SoundTouch® 10
You need a female USB A to male micro USB A adapter to perform the update. You can purchase the adapter from Bose (part number: 356138-0010)
or from an electronics retailer.

1. Download the software update file for your system

Select your system.


This downloads the software update file onto your computer.

SoundTouch® 10 system

At the prompt, click SAVE. Save the Update.stu file to your desktop.

Note: If you do not see the prompt, the file may have downloaded automatically. Look for the Update.stu file in the footer or header of your browser’s
window, or in your Downloads folder.

2. Copy the software update file onto a USB drive

Insert a USB drive into a USB port on your computer.

Copy the Update.stu file onto the USB drive.

Eject the USB drive from the USB port.


3. Update your SoundTouch® system to the latest software version

Insert the USB drive into the SERVICE connector on your system. (Note: A USB micro adapter is required if the drive has the more common USB A-
type connector)

Unplug the power cord from your system.

On the system’s button pad, press and hold the "4" and the volume-down buttons while plugging the power cord back into your system.

Release the buttons.

The system updates and reboots. This takes less than five minutes.

Remove the USB drive from the SERVICE connector.

SoundTouch® Portable System


You need a female USB A to male micro USB A adapter to perform the update. You can purchase the adapter from Bose (part number: 356138-0010)
or from an electronics retailer.

1. Download the software update file for your system

Select your system.

This downloads the software update file onto your computer.

At the prompt, click SAVE. Save the Update.stu file to your desktop.

Note: If you do not see the prompt, the file may have downloaded automatically. Look for the Update.stu file in the footer or header of your browser’s
window, or in your Downloads folder.

2. Copy the software update file onto a USB drive

Insert a USB drive into a USB port on your computer.

Copy the Update.stu file onto the USB drive.

Eject the USB drive from the USB port.

3. Update your SoundTouch® system to the latest software version

Connect the system to power.

Insert the USB drive into the SETUP connector on your system.

On the system’s button pad, press and hold AUX until the Wi-Fi indicator turns off.

While still holding AUX, press and hold the "4" and volume-down buttons.

This screen appears indicating Software Update Mode.


Release the buttons.

The system updates and reboots. This takes less than five minutes.

Remove the USB drive from the SETUP connector.

4. Confirm the software update

After the system reboots, check the software version on your system.

On the system’s button pad, press and hold the "5" and volume-down buttons until the system information appears on the display.

Make sure that the software version number listed matches the software version that you downloaded from the SoundTouch® Software Update
page.

Press the volume-up or volume-down button to scroll to the 4.2 Firmware screen.

Make sure that the software version number listed matches the software version that you downloaded from the SoundTouch® Software Update
page.

2. Copy the software update file onto a USB drive

Eject the USB drive from the USB port

3. Update your SoundTouch® system to the latest software version

(This procedure will restore the system to factory defaults. The setup procedure in the SoundTouch® app will need to be rerun to get the system back
on the network.)

Insert the USB drive into the SETUP B connector on the Wave® SoundTouch® pedestal
Disconnect your system from power
On the back of the pedestal, press and hold the Control button to the left of the Wi-Fi indicator

Press and hold the Control button


While holding the Control button, plug the power cord back into your system
Wait three seconds then release the Control button
The display on the Wave® system will temporarily display "PLEASE WAIT" and then begin the update process, which should take less than five
minutes
Remove the USB drive from the SETUP B connector
Open the SoundTouch® app on your computer and, once logged into the app, add the system to your account
SoundTouch® Wireless Link
Note: You need a USB A to USB micro B cable to perform the update. This cable is commonly used for charging mobile devices. If you do not already
have this cable you can purchase one from Bose (part number: 330816-0010) or from an electronics retailer.

2. Copy the software update file onto your desktop computer

3. Update your SoundTouch® system to the latest software version (This procedure will restore the system to factory defaults. The setup
procedure in the SoundTouch® app will need to be rerun to get the system back on the network.)

Connect the small end of the USB cable into the SETUP connector on the back of your SoundTouch® Wireless Link

Connect the large end of the USB cable to a USB port on your computer
Connect your SoundTouch® Wireless Link to power
Launch an Internet browser on your computer and go to http://203.0.113.1:17008/update.html

Select "Choose File" and browse the computer for the "Update.stu" file saved earlier
Select "Upload." A progress bar will appear in the browser window and the Wi-Fi indicator will show a white blinking pattern. This may take up to 10
minutes after which the SoundTouch® Wireless Link will reboot
Once the system has reboot, you should see a solid amber Wi-Fi indicator
Open the SoundTouch® app on your mobile device or computer, once logged into the app, add the system to your account

SoundTouch® 300
You need a female USB A to male micro USB A adapter to perform the update. You can purchase the adapter from Bose (part number: 356138-0010)
or from an electronics retailer.

At the prompt, click SAVE. Save the "Update.stu" file to your desktop.

Note: If you do not see the prompt, the file may have downloaded automatically. Look for the "Update.stu" file in the footer or header of your
browser’s window, or in your Downloads folder.

2. Copy the software update file onto a USB drive

Insert a USB drive into a USB port on your computer.


Copy the "Update.stu" file onto the USB drive.
Eject the USB drive from the USB port.

3. Update your SoundTouch® 300 system to the latest software version

Insert the USB drive into Setup port on the back of the soundbar.
Unplug the power cord from your system.
Press and release the SoundTouch button on the SoundTouch 300 remote.
Press and hold CC button on the remote while you apply power into the soundbar.(Keep pressing until the LEDs begin to flash from one source to
another on the front of the soundbar. This takes approximately 6 seconds.)
You should now see the Wi-Fi LED in a fast white blinking state and changing through sources.
After the lights stop blinking, wait about 10 minutes for the update to fully complete.

LifeStyle® 650/600
1. Download the software update file for your system

Select your system.


This downloads the software update file onto your computer.

LifeStyle® 650/600 system

At the prompt, click SAVE. Save the "Update.avu" file to your desktop.

Note: If you do not see the prompt, the file may have downloaded automatically. Look for the "Update.avu" file in the footer or header of your
browser’s window, or in your Downloads folder.

2. Copy the software update file onto a USB drive

Insert a USB drive into a USB port on your computer.


Copy the "Update.avu" file onto the USB drive.
Eject the USB drive from the USB port.

3. Update your LifeStyle® 650/600 system to the latest software version

Press "SETUP" key on remote. (This brings up UNIFY menu.)


Select "Software Update" from UNIFY menu.
Insert USB Drive into the rear of the console.
Select "USB Update". (This will begin the update from the USB Drive.)
Follow the on-screen instructions.

Please note, the above steps require the initial out of box setup steps to be completed first. In other words, "Software Update" > "USB Update" is only
available from the UNIFY menu, which cannot be reached until the required initial out of box setup steps are complete.

On the back of the wireless adapter, press and hold the Control button to the left of the Wi-Fi indicator

While holding the Control button, reconnect your system’s power cord

During this time, the white Wi-Fi indicator on the adapter will show varied blink patterns. This may take up to 10 minutes after which the adapter
will reboot.
Once the adapter has reboot, you should see a solid amber Wi-Fi indicator
Open the SoundTouch® app on your mobile device or computer, once logged into the app, add the system to your account

SoundTouch® Wireless Adapter for VideoWave® Systems

Insert the USB drive into the SETUP connector on your system. (Note: A USB micro adapter is required if the drive has the more common USB A-

Unplug the power cord from your system.
On the top of the amplifier, press and hold the Control button near the Wi-Fi indicator, while plugging the power cord back into your system.
While holding the Control button, reconnect your system's power cord
Wait three seconds and then release the Control button
During this time, the white Wi-Fi Indicator below the Control button will show varied blink patterns. This may take up to 10 minutes after which the
amplifier will reboot
Once the amplifier has reboot, you should see a solid amber Wi-Fi indicator
Open the SoundTouch® app on your mobile device or computer, once logged into the app, add the system to your account
