MIMETICS – creative movements, imitated by children from animals,

places or things.
Example:
 flying like a bird
 swimming like a fish
 crawling like a word
 running like a dog
 walking like a duck
 galloping like a horse
 hopping like a kangaroo
 jumping like a frog
 climbing like a monkey

LOCOMOTORS – the body moves from one place to another


Examples:
 hop – a short jump
 jump – to pass by a spring
 run – to move swiftly
 walk – a series of steps
 jog – a slower than run
 gallop – to run very fast
 skip – a step and a hop
 slide – to move in contact with a surface
 leap – take off on one foot and land on the other foot

NON – LOCOMOTORS – movement can be done while staying in


one’s place
 bending – flexing
 twisting – to rotate part of the body
 shaking – to move irregularly to and fro
 stretching – extending on or more joints of the body
 swinging – like a pendulum
 reaching – to stretch
