Georgia’s Summer; Brought to you by Kaiser Permanente!

This summer was going to be one of comple ng a list of house projects that had been standing in the wings, wai ng
pa ently. The list was interrupted by an emergency trip to the hospital for Georgia (Memorial Day) where it was deter-
mined she had an acute appendici s requiring immediate surgery. A er a 3-day hospital stay, she came home and be-
gan to recuperate only to hear from her doctor the following week that they had discovered colon cancer during the
rou ne biopsies. A week later, she went back to the hospital to have yet another surgery, this one removing a por on
of her colon. The doctors determined that they would not have known about the colon cancer without the appendici s
because the type of cancer is so slow growing that it wouldn’t have been discovered un l too late. It’s really an amaz-
ing example of God’s care and grace. We don’t
like to think that He causes pain in our lives
but we are certainly thankful now for the pain
of the appendici s. There was much recovery
to be done but her energy level is back and
things are ge ng checked off the list once
again. 2 surgeries in 2 weeks puts a person in a
physical as well as emo onal state but recov-
ery is complete and we just thank God for His
mercy. No further check-ups or treatment are
necessary and at the post-opera ve appoint-
ment, the doctor said, “There is only one more
thing you need to do……never see me again.”
That is one direc ve we will certainly obey!
