The career areas that I am interested in are medical and business. I have always
wanted to be a doctor. This is good because I like science and medical stuff but I do not
know if being a doctor is the right fit for me. The average salary of a doctor is from
$156,000 to $315,000 a year. I would like to look into other jobs in the same field
though. I am also interested in business and finance but I do not know enough about
that field to determine what kind of job I would want.

I am preparing myself for these jobs by taking biology and chemistry next year to give
me more options in the future to take a more advanced medical science.

In order to become a doctor, you must go to college for four years and obtain your
Bachelor’s Degree. Then you attend 4 years of medical school to get an MD or DO.
Next is residency where you work within your specialty for 3 years. Then you become a
certified doctor.

My School list includes:

 University of Pittsburgh, COA - $33,000, My estimated cost is around $33,000
 University of Florida, COA - $43,408, My estimated cost is around $33,498
 University of Southern California, COA - $72,277, My estimated cost is around
$72,277

I would like to possibly interview or job shadow a doctor at the University of Pittsburgh
Allegheny General Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, and UPMC
Presbyterian.

On Naviance I watched the interview with Jennifer Arnold who is a neonatologist. She
seemed very passionate about her job and really enjoyed it. She did not give up on her
dream to become a doctor even after many rejections. That was very motivating
because I know I can do this and I will not let anyone stop me, so I do still want to try to
become a doctor.
