PARMEHUTU: Power movement of Hutu’s following independence. Formed in 1957

Kayibanda: Hutu descent, becomes the 1st Prime minister of the 1st Republic in 1962, made Hutu more powerful than Tutsi actively changes. Active purges
on Tutsis who were still in Rwanda.

Inyenzi: Attack 1st Republic, formed by exiled Tutsi’s, Inyenzi actually means Cockroach based in Uganda, resistance group, label eventually stuck to all Tutsi

Habyarimana: Initially in charge of the military, organized coup in 1973, becomes PM of 2nd republic, “National unity” was his promise, became a get rich
quick scheme

MRND: National revolutionary movement for development - 1974

RPF – Rwanda Patriotic Front

Interahamwe – Youth arm of the MRND – Start the violence.
