FOSS4G 2017
Summer 2017
Objectives
Participants will be able to bring both the tools and the
knowledge they gain from this workshop to enhance their
projects and the organizations they work for. Specifically, this
workshop will enable participants to:
I Add data to GIS software and navigate a GIS interface
I Perform basic geoprocessing operations for preparing data
I Convert text-based data to a GIS data format
I Conduct geographic analyses using standard GIS tools
I Create thematic maps
I Locate GIS data on the web and consider the merits of
different data sources
I Demonstrate competency with a specific GIS package
(open source QGIS)
I Identify other GIS topics to pursue for future study
