Q.01 (b): Prepare the table of important design phases. state the required CAD tools to support various design phases.
Q.03 (a): Explain with neat sketch, raster scan display. State its advantages and limitations.
Q.03 (b): Differentiate between random scan and raster scan display.
Q.04: Explain any four input devices used for data input on graphics workstation.
Q.05 (b): State the various types of output devices used in CAD Workstation. Explain, with neat sketch, any two output devices.
ASSIGNMENT-02
Q.01 (a): Generate a straight line connecting two points (20, 10) and (30, 18) using Bresenham’s algorithm.

Q.04 (a): What are the essential elements of typical CAD/CAMsoftware? A triangle PQR is having vertices P (10, 15), Q (40,
15), and R (30, 50). If the triangle is to be reflected about arbitrary line
y = 0.4x + 2, determine the concatenated transformation matrix and coordinates of new vertices of the triangle.
Q.04 (b): Determine the raster scan locations selected by Bresenham’s algorithm while generating a line from (1,0) to (10, 3).
Q.05 (a): A triangle ABC with vertices A (0, 0), B (1, 1) and C (5, 2) is to be scaled by a factor of 3 unit about a point C (5, 2).
Determine: (i) the composite transformation matrix, and (ii) the coordinates of the vertices of the scaled triangle.
Q.05 (b): A triangle with A (2,2), B (6,2) and C (4,6) is to be rotated about point C in CCW by 35˚; scaled by factor 2.5 in X
and Y direction; and finally translated by 3 units in X direction and 5 units in Y direction. Determine: (i) the composite
Q.01 What are the advantages of parametric representation of curve? also discuss the generation of 2-D Curve.
(i) The parametric equation for line (ii) The tangent vector for line.
Q.05 Write parametric equation of Hermite cubic spline curve and derive the basic function matrix for it. Also find the mid-
point of a Hermite cubic spline with the two points as (1, 1) (6, 5) and tangent vectors as (0, 4) and (4, 0).
ASSIGNMENT-04
Q.03: Discuss the RGB and CMY Model of colour and explain the importance of colour in CAD/CAM application.
Q.04: How the B-Spline surface is generated? What are the continuity conditions that are required for a B-spline patch.
Q.05: Explain the following surfaces: (i) Bezier Surface (ii) B-Spline Surface.
ASSIGNMENT-05
Q.03: Define element stiffness matrix. Fig.-1, Shows three springs, having stiffness 2, 2 and 4 N/mm respectively,
connected in series. Both ends of the assembly are fixed. The forces of 10N and 20 N are applied at nodes 2 and 3
respectively. Using the finite element method, determine the displacements at nodes 2 and 3.
Q.04: Fig-2, Shows a cluster of four springs. one end of the assembly is fixed and a force of 1000N is applied at the other
end. using the finite
element method, determine: (i) the deflection of each spring. (ii) the reaction force at support.
Q.05: A stepped metallic bar with circular cross-section consists of two segments. The first segment, made of Aluminium, is
of length 1000 mm
2 2
and cross-sectional area 3200 mm . The second segment, made of brass, is of length 2000 mm and cross-sectional area
1200 mm . The modulus of elasticity of aluminium is 70GPa, while the modulus of elasticity of brass is 100 GPa. If the bar is
fixed at one end of the bigger section and subjected to tensile forces of P2 = 250 Kn and P3 = 80 Kn. as shown in Fig.-3,
