Persuasive Essay

Does facebook or other social media create isolation? Online social media have gained
astounding worldwide growth and popularity which has led to attracting attention from variety of
researchers globally. Although with time all generations have come to embrace the changes social
network has brought about, teenagers and young adults are the most fanatic users of these sites.
According to various research studies in the field of online social networks, it has been revealed that
these sites are impacting the lives of the youth greatly. When using these sites such as Twitter,
Facebook or Instagram, there are both positive and negative effects on the youth. It is inevitable to
ignore the fact that nowadays social network plays an essential role in teenagers’ lives. Most youths
are spending at least an hour in these popular social media sites. Generally, 1 out of 7 minutes which
are spent online by most of those who can access internet is spent on Facebook according to Shea
Bennett. One may ask how spending all that time on the social media sites may have a positive impact
on them. Well, social media helps the youth and any other user updated with what is happening
around the world, help the teenagers stay connected and interact with each other even if they are
many miles apart. This strengthens their relationship even if they finished school and moved to
different locations they stay connected and update one another.
In addition, social media sites have provided a platform whereby the youth can create groups and
pages based on their common discipline and end up building connections and opportunities for their
respective careers by updating various topics to discuss. Youth who have been interviewed they say
that social media has become their lifestyle and it makes their lives easier and efficient. While on one
hand social network sites seems to bring people together and connected on the other hand it creates
social isolation in regard to BBC News report. As the youth tend to spend many hours on these sites,
they rarely have face-to-face interaction. According various studies, scientists’ evaluation determined
that social isolation can lead to a host of emotional, psychological, physical and mental problems
which include anxiety, depression and somatic complaints among many others. Other negative effects
of social networking various people suggested included encouraging poor spelling and grammar,
exposing underage to online predators, allowing spread of misinformation that is perceived as fact,
decreasing productivity as those who are supposed to be working spend time in the sites to chat,
provide a perfect platform for cyber bullying and providing details that increase risks of identity theft.
Social networking clearly portrays both positive and negative effects on the youth. It is decision of an
individual to make whether to continue using the sites or not.
Argumentative Essay

Is animal testing necessary? Animal experiment is dangerous. It is often claimed that animal
testing is indispensable, because a »complete organism« is supposedly required for the
development of pharmaceutical drugs. Animals may well be complete organisms, but they are
the wrong ones. Animals and humans differ considerably with regard to anatomy, physiology
and metabolism. Even animals of different species can react quite differently to chemicals and
pharmaceutical drugs. It is not possible to predict whether a human will react identically or
differently based on the results of experiments conducted on animals.
One study conducted by the pharmaceutical company Pfizer came to the conclusion that »one
would be better off tossing a coin than relying on animal experiments to answer the question
of carcinogenic. Ten thousands of animals must die for each product. In most cases the
products tested do not even advance medical science. On the contrary, in Germany
approximately 2 500 new applications for pharmaceutical drug approval are filed each year, of
which there is only one real innovation every two years. Everything else either already exists or
is simply unnecessary. For example, the company Bayer redefined the completely normal
condition of elderly men as a »testosterone deficiency syndrome«, in order to create a new
market for hormone drugs. There are some 60 000 drugs available on the German market.
Many of them are identical and are only marketed under different names. According to the
WHO only 325 medicines are actually essential. Animal experiments contribute nothing to the
development of new therapies. The pharmaceuticals industry conducts them only to hedge
their liability in case something goes wrong with one of their products.
Descriptive Essay

The Philippines is defined by its emerald rice fields, teeming megacities, graffiti-splashed
jeepneys, smouldering volcanoes, bug-eyed tarsiers, fuzzy water buffalo and smiling, happy-go-lucky
people. We Filipinos are known to be hospitable and that we value our families so much. We never
forget to wear a smile because of the positive attitude that we possess amidst our problems or even
after disasters come our way. These are the main reasons why we should be proud of our race. When
darkness falls and overrules the sunlight, sparkling eyes rove around the new sights to behold. This
usually starts on the first day of September and is only seen in the Philippines. Playful rainbow colors
enthusiastically move about in the dark grey walls which were once lifeless and cold. This is but one of
the marvelous sights as the most-awaited celebration comes near. Clear blue skies with clouds formed
into different pictures; a jolly sun, with the most brilliant sunshine that lights up nature; grateful and
pleasant people, with the brightest smiles that build up their unique culture. These form the
Philippines, a place where you can learn the real meaning of life, and how to appreciate things
around. A week’s exchange program, a lifetime’s awakening. This is the most amazing and fruitful trip
that I have ever had. Wherever you are and whomever you are with, you can feel the people's passion
towards their jobs and country. No matter what they are–sales staff, taxi drivers, security guards or
simply strangers passing.
Narrative Essay

There are many valuable things in life, but friendship may be one of the most important. To live
life without the experience of friendship, is life without living. Human interaction is a necessity to
survival, but developed friendships are essential to the successful well being of anyone . I have many
friends in my life. But I didn't treat all of them my bestfriend. I only treat some of them my bestfriends.
In our time it is hat to give your trust to the people. I have my bestfriends but some of them betrayed
me and backstabbed me. I'm really thankful to those who stayed with me even in my darkest times.
They prove to me that they're not just my bestfriends but my sisters or brothers. We are not sisters by
flesh but we are sisters/brothers by heart. They are one of the best things that ever happened to me.
Through good and bad they stayed with me. They always support me and I'm thanful for that. They
made my ife a rollercoaster. Ride of fun, ride of tears, ride of happiness, ride of laughters, ride of
endless chatting and a ride of unforgattable memories.
