Objectives:

1. To understand the process involved in producing a chemical reaction

2. Identify the hazard in using particular chemicals

3. Demonstrate an understanding of chemistry terms Catalyst,Oxidization and Exothermic

Materials:

• Warm water

• Dishwashing liquid

• Tablespoon measuring spoon

• Hydrogen peroxide

• Funnel

• Soda Bottle

• Food coloring

• Tray

Procedure:

What you need

• Any types of gloves

• Safety glasses

What to Do

• Place the soda bottle in the middle of the tray and put the funnel into the opening.

• Put a 50% hydrogen peroxide in the base.

• Put a liquid soap.

• Choose food coloring of choice and add 4 drops of color in total to drip down the inside of the bottle.

• For the last step add the Potassium iodide.

Evaluation:
In this experiment our purpose was to test how the percetage of the hydrogen peroxide and its amount
affected the speed ofthe chemical reaction. Our Hypothesis stated that the trial using 50% solution would be the
fastest and it was proven correct. It was the fastest because it had more pure hydrogen peroxide making it have
more oxygen when broken down and pushing the foam put faster. We predict that when a catalyst is added to a
reaction it speeds up the reaction.
