Teacher’s Day Presentation


Teachers, I believe, are the most responsible and important
members of society because their professional efforts affect
the fate of the earth

FACTS
• 'Teacher’s Day' is intended to be a special day for the
appreciation of teachers
• World Teachers' Day is celebrated across the world on
October 5
• Ever since the importance of teachers has been
recognized by UNESCO, by adopting the
“Recommendation concerning the status of teachers”,
World Teachers' Day has been celebrated annually.
• In most cases, different countries celebrate a local
educator or an important milestone in education
• Hence, all countries celebrate this day on different
dates, unlike many other International Days.
FACTS
• India celebrates its Teacher’s Day on
5th September in the honor of its first
vice-president and second president,
Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan
• Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan September
1888 – 17 April 1975) was an Indian
philosopher and statesman. He was
the first Vice-President of India
(1952–1962) and subsequently the
second President of India (1962–
1967).
FACTS
• Among the many honours he received were a
knighthood (1931), the Bharat Ratna (1954) and the
Order of Merit in 1963.
• When he became President, some of his students and
friends requested him to allow them to celebrate his
birthday, 5th September. He replied, “Instead of
celebrating my birthday, it would be my proud privilege
if 5 September is observed as Teachers' Day.”
• Since then, His birthday is celebrated in India as
Teachers' Day on 5 September.
• According to him, “Teachers should be the best minds
in the country.”
