Group Strategies Sheet

1. Name: Harry
Goal: Harry will play at least one sensory activity once a day in lab.
• Tell Harry what you are doing and why you are doing it when you are putting an apron on him
• Introduce his hand to the sensory bin
• Sign “all done” when it looks like he is done with the activity.

2. Name: Isaiah
Goal: Isaiah will be able to follow 2 step directions 3 times a day in lab.
• The teachers will use parallel talk, to describe his actions.
• Teachers will label the actions of the outcome of a two-step direction for him.
• The teachers will model the actions of the two- step directions given to him.

3. Name: Mark
Goal: Mark will rote count to three every day in Toddler Lab.
• Teachers will model counting to three with Mark using self-talk.
• Teachers will incorporate counting to three into the daily activities by asking pointed questions
like, “Mark, can you hand me three balls?”
• Teachers will use tangible manipulatives to convey the meaning of the number 3.

4. Name: Bentley
Goal: Bentley will initiate conversations with the other toddlers at least once a day in toddler lab.
• Teachers will help him talk to his peers.
• Teachers will introduce him to his peers.
• Teachers will model what to say when talking to the other toddlers.

5. Name: Carly
Goal: Carly will speak in 3 to 4 word sentences every day in Toddler Lab.
• The teachers will model proper 3 to 4 word sentences for Carly.
• The teachers will ask open ended questions of Carly that require more than one word responses.
• When Carly uses a sentence that is shorter than 3 to 4 words, teachers will rephrase it to be 3 to
4 words and say it back to her so she hears the more complex sentence structure.

6. Name: Amber
Goal: Amber will be able to speak 3-4 word sentences once a day in toddler lab at the activities
planned for her.
• The teacher will use some sign language and say the words out loud to help her speak more
sentences.
• The teacher will use self talk and modeling to show what she is doing in an activity and will
say the pronoun “I” in sentences. “I am now cleaning up.”
• The teacher will ask questions to her that will invite her to respond and speak 3-4 word
sentences.

7. Name: Eli
Goal: Eli will be able to share a toy 2 times a day during toddler lab.
• The teachers will model the actions of sharing with peers when appropriate.
• Teachers will label the actions of sharing for Eli and help him put a name to the actions of
sharing when appropriate.
•The teachers will use parallel talk and self- talk to help Eli understand the process of sharing.

8. Name: Ashton
Goal: Ashton will be able to recognize quantities of numbers 1-3 at least once a day during lab.
• The teacher will model how to point to objects and count the objects using a one-to-one
principle.
• The teacher can ask questions about how many objects Ashton sees in an activity. Such as,
“how many red blocks do you see?”
• The teacher will use parallel talk to help Ashton count the objects and say what she is doing.
For example: “Now Ashton is painting two lines.”
9. Name: Ellen
Goal: Ellen will interact with other toddlers at least once a day in lab.
• Teachers will introduce Evey to other toddlers. For example, “Ellen this is our friend ____.
Will you say hi to ____?”
• Teachers will encourage Ellen to interact with other toddlers by asking her to hand objects or
toys to other children nearby.
• Teachers will encourage Ellen to interact with other toddlers by telling her to say “Hi” when
toddlers arrive, or “bye” when they are leaving.

10. Name: Evelyn


Goal: Evelyn will say at least five words in English each week in toddler lab.
• Teachers will use self -talk about what they are doing so that she then associates that
vocabulary with the actions of what the teacher is doing.
• Teachers will use imitation by saying a word and then having her repeat that word back to
them.
• Teachers will use parallel talk to describe what she is doing so that she then associates that
vocabulary with her own actions.

11. Name: Makenzie


Goal: Kenzie will name the two colors yellow and purple each day in lab.
• Model how to point to colors and name them.
• Indirectly verbally prompt her to find an object of a certain color.
• Directly verbally prompt her to name the color of an object.

12. Name: Colton


Goal: Colton will point to and count 5 objects each day in lab.
• Model how to point to objects one by one and count them aloud.
• Indirectly verbally prompt Colton to count by asking him for a certain number of objects.
• Directly verbally prompt Colton to count objects by asking him how many there are. Ex: “How
many blocks do you have?”
