Blue- rumped parrot population in three countries and the actions taken to protect them in

the year 2000, 2005 and 2010

Figure 1 shows the population of the blue-rumped parrot in three countries, Indonesia,
Thailand and Brunei in the year 2000, 2005 and 2010, and Table 1 shows the actions taken
to protect them in the same year.

The population of the blue-rumped parrot in Indonesia and Thailand increased when
there were actions taken to protect them whereas, it decreased in Brunei.

The number of the blue-rumped parrot recorded in Indonesia, increased over the
years. It was 500 in the year 2000, when actions like punishing illegal hunting and organizing
awareness campaign were taken. In 2005 it was 600 when, extra actions like protecting the
habitat were taken and in 2010 it hiked up to 860 when reserves were set up for the blue-
rumped parrot. Then, the highest number of blue-rumped parrot recorded in Thailand is 480,
in 2000 when there were punishment for illegal hunting. After that, the number declined to 300
in 2005 because no actions were taken. The number elevated to 400 again when punishment
were given and awareness campaigns were organized. In Brunei, the population kept
declining from 400 to 300 to 220 in the years 2000, 2005 and 2010 respectively. Actions taken
like protecting the habitat was not enough.

In conclusion, the population of blue-rumped parrot increases over the years when
there are actions taken to protect them in Indonesia and Thailand, with the exception of
Thailand.
