1 Description:

There is an idea of installing small hydro power projects

in the hydro rich areas as they are economical and don’t
need any extra cost for connection with main grid and
also helpful in conserving environment ,but the task is
to identify the factors effecting the development of these
projects. Government is taking concrete steps to boost
this sector by providing financial assistance and allotting
the land for the cost as low as possible. Hydro power
producing sites are situated in the Himalayan range but
the factors effecting theses projects are;

• Indus water treaty is preventing Indian government to store

water on major rivers.
• Lack of private sectors in Jam-mu and Kashmir results in slow
progress of the work.
• Remote locations with security issues and no infrastructure.

Indian government has also taken some concrete steps to

boost this sector as,

• There are separate departments which will handle small hydro

projects.
• No entry tax on equipment s.
• Providing land for forty years on a rupee for square meter.

2 Comparison with other related work:

Following are some projects as discussed in the paper,

• In some countries like Pakistan and Latin America SHPs sites

are provided with better infrastructure.

• These type of projects are handed to local communities as they
know the importance of these projects.
• Local peoples are trained technically, in order to maintain these
projects in future.
• Global actors are involved for efficient technology.

3 Pros and Cons in comparison with related work:

When comparing these types of projects some pros and

cons are,

3.1 Some Pros are:

• India has hydro rich regions.

• Provide a solid stimulus to development of its economy in sum-
mer season.
• Government is providing support up to his full capacity.

3.2 Some Cons are:

• Lack of infrastructure in hydro rich areas.

• A lot of security issues in these regions.
• Lack of technical knowledge for maintenance purpose.
• Lack of efficient technology and local industry.

There are some grammatical mistakes but the paper is

written in simple words so the paper is easy to follow
