Based on the short story that I have read, Leaving by M.G Vassanji, the lesson that I have
learnt is responsibility can bring success in life.

Aloo's mother is a responsible mother. She makes sacrifices for the sale of her children.
For example , she refuses to re-marry as she does not want the children to be sent to a
children's home. She also sells the store to move to Upanga ,a smaller and quieter town in order
to let her younger two to do well in their studies. Beside that, she decides to talk to the school
officer to get some advise to let her son, Aloo to get education in London.

Aloo is a responsible student as he does well in school and obtains a place in the
university. He also wants to study medicine and is accepted by on America University purely on
the basis of his results . He is very responsible. He promises his mother to uphold the principles
of his culture and traditional and not take up bad habits. He does not think selfishly of act
defiantly. He only shouts at her on one occasion when he feels very disappointed that she gave
him hope and then dashed it.

Aloo being responsible to his family. Aloo and his older siblings lives in a single-parent
Family. Their mother is a widow who has raised five children on her own. Not only that, he study
went to get the flying color results until he accepted to study in London with scholarship.

In a nutshell, Aloo always being a responsible people. I wished that all the readers will be
like Aloo and his responsibility for their own success in cope.
