1. Welcome
2. Coaches Report – Coach Singleton
a. Tough schedule intentionally. We had some tough losses and team has
improved because of losses. Expectation to finish season with all wins for region
championship in playoffs. The games the team lost gave playoff level
experience. Spirit of the players is positive. Good communication. A lot of
energy at practices.
b. Some of the parents in attendance at the Booster club meeting brought up the
following items:
i. Coaches aren’t loud, energetic and motivating enough. Wish they were
more active, energetic. Literally standing still and not saying much. Want
to see more fire, more passion. Opponents’ coaches are in it whereas
our coaches are passive. Want coaches to challenge calls. We are being
outcoached by other teams. Other coaches will bring attention to refs on
calls. Coach feels there is no problem with the way calls are accepted.
When a call is called it’s what it is and players need to move on. School
only pays for 2 refs except for Starr’s Mill game it is 3 refs.
ii. A parent suggested her son would like more redirection, and then went
on to suggest if a player is not playing to their potential coaches should
take the player out. Some players have off nights.
iii. JV Parents are upset that they weren’t notified they didn’t have a coach.
Lucky if kids come back to play. Worst year ever in treatment of younger
kids.
iv. Starr’s Mill game players want to win. Person who is a McIntosh coach
made a comment to managers that we don’t have this or that and it’s
okay it’s only JV. Asked Starr’s Mill to rip a page out of their book to keep
stats.
v. Showed up to Starr’s Mill game and the worst thing you can get from
competitor is sheer pity. So sorry, McIntosh used to be a phenomenal
program but now it’s like Bad News Bears.
vi. JV players who want to play are getting discouraged. No one is working
with them. Starr’s Mill has 5 coaches. Why can’t one of the varsity
coaches go with JV to games? Our JV players are calling time outs.
vii. A parent stated that they felt players are losing their fire and love of the
game over the last two years.
viii. No one wanted to pull varsity kids down to help on JV. JV parents feel
they should get a refund since they weren’t notified they would not have
a coach.
ix. A parent thought the program has gone so far downhill and wanted to
know how do you turn it around now?
x. We need to nurture the JV kids. They are our future varsity. JV boys are
scrappy but they run out of gas in the game and there are no subs. They
are staying positive. Don’t understand why coaches are not sending
varsity kids down to help on JV. Players should be assigned games to
help on JV. Larry indicated he would like to have Cooper, Harrison, Ben,
and Cal play with JV against Starr’s Mill. Feels it could be more
competitive.
xi. We are the McIntosh Lacrosse team, not varsity and not JV. Someone
has to direct the roster. Seems like people in charge don’t want to take
time to organize. Coach indicated in hindsight should not have scheduled
double header games. Should set expectations to players when selected
for varsity that they may be rotated to help out JV. JV only has 12
healthy players.
xii. Concern how many players coming up from middle school. Feel where
the youth practice fields are located may be why we are losing youth
players.
xiii. A Parent stated they have accepted mediocrity with the McIntosh
Lacrosse program. We all played in youth. Don’t have commitment here.
Nobody cares. Feels athletic director and administration does not care
and does not have a vested interest in the program.
xiv. Best players on the team play summer ball. Players want to play for their
school.
xv. Girls lacrosse had someone help them grow the program.
