Inventory Structure.

Oracle Inventory is basically integrated with following oracle modules.

1) Oracle WIP.
2) Oracle BOM.
3) Oracle Order Management.
4) Oracle Purchasing.
5) Oracle Flow Manufacturing.
6) Oracle Cost Management.
7) Oracle Project Manufacturing.
8) Oracle Shipping.
9) Oracle Engineering.

And Oracle Inventory is also integrated with oracle financial modules.


1) Oracle Payables.
2) Oracle Receivables.
3) Oracle Assets.
4) Oracle General Ledger.
5) If any External Systems.

Oracle Inventory is one of the oracle enterprise application which helps the company to satisfy the
following business needs.

A) We can define part number.


B) We can track the inventory.
C) We can replenish the Materials.
D) Modelling organization Structure.
E) Maintain the Balance of materials.
F) Forecasting in anticipated demand.

There are mainly 6 Key Flex Fields in oracle inventory and they are as follows.

1) Item flex field: Of all the flex field system item flex field is the most important one which stores all the
information related to items. Owner is Oracle Inventory & used by Inventory, Purchasing, Payables and
Receivables. Dynamics Insert is NO as shown in below Screen Shot.
Go to -> Segments and define respective fields.

Go To Value Set -> Define Value sets for that Segment.

Profile Option - OE: item flex field and user can also define OE: Item flex field entry method. (Done in
System Administrator Responsibility)
2) Item Category flex field:

You must design and configure your Item Categories Flex field before you can start defining items since
all items must be assigned to categories. You can define multiple structures for your Item Categories
Flex field, each structure corresponding to a different category grouping scheme. You can then associate
these structures with the categories and category sets you define.
3) Item Catalog flex field:
Owner: is Oracle Inventory, Table: MTL_ITEM_CATALOG_GROUPS, Dynamic Inserts: NO
4) Stock locator flex field.

We can use this flex field when we want to track the locators in inventory & in case if we do not have
inventory implemented or none of the items are not defined with locator control then no need to define
stock locator flex field.
In-case if we want to track particular row, rack, bin indicators for your items you need to configure the
Stock locator flex field.

Dynamic Inserts Possible Should be yes.

Segments.

Click on Segments and Define your possible Locators of inventory.

Value Set For “Bin”


5) A/C Alias Flex field.

This Flex-Field supports only one structure.

6) Sales order flex field.
This Key Flex Field used by oracle inventory to uniquely identify sales order transactions oracle order
management interfaces to oracle Inventory.
Sales order Flex field must be defined as Order Number, Order Type and Order Source.
This Combination will help us each transactions to inventory are Unique.
And OM: Source Code Profile option must be “Order Entry”
Dynamic Inserts Possible is ON for the same.
