POST TRAUMATIC STRESS AND DISORDERS IN

THE VICTIMS OF TERRORISTS ATTACK

OBJECTIVE: To study the impact of terrorism on the people of
Quetta to assess the rate of post-traumatic stress and disorders.
STUDY DESIGN: Cross-sectional and descriptive
SITE OF STUDY: Quetta Institute of Medical Sciences (QIMS).
DURATION: From 1st April to 20th April 2017.
STUDY TOOL: Questionnaire.
MATERIAL AND METHOD: A total of 50 subjects were taken.
Subjects were the local people of Quetta including Lawyers,
Business man, Shop-keepers, Students of BUITEMS and SBK
universities. 90% of them are male. A descriptive questionnaire
containing queries about the effects of terrorist attacks on the life
of victims and his family, was distributed.
Result: The result was analyzed after re-collection of
questionnaires. Out of 50 people, 38 (76 %) of people shows the
symptoms of PTSD. 10 (20% ) found to be depressed. 4% are
unaffected.
CONCLUSION: The analysis concludes that majority of the people
in QUETTA are suffering from PTSD, it’s due to the constant threat
of terrorism.
