1.

Using class notes, as well as your annotations from TSIS, Chapter 6, explain in your
own words what it means to:

- Plant a Naysayer in your argument : From What I understood, a naysayer is my

interpretation of what I think the stakeholders would argue against my claim.

- Make a concession in your argument : A fact or an example acknowledging the truth

about an idea, that doesn't agree with your own argument.

2. On a scale of 1-5, 5 being very confident and 1 being not at all confident, where
would you rate your understanding about how to plant a naysayer or make a concession
IN YOUR OWN ESSAY? Explain.

I think I feel at like a 4, simply because I wrote it down in class, and it was revised both
by you and a peer. And I understood what I wrote therefore I am able to explain it more.

3. Based upon your BLOCKING CARDS from today's class, write a 1-2 paragraph
SECTION where you plant the naysayer perspective and make a concession. Draft it
below.

Claim : In order for relations between these countries to be better the US must take
ownership and take the lead and acknowledge how it has damaged these countries
leading many to migrate. Although many politicians, conservatives, and even U.S
citizens might oppose this idea and say that the U.S has done nothing but help these
countries in times when they were most suffering, they did. But they were also the
reason many of these countries suffered in the first place. The U.S has implemented
many programs that helped Northern triangle countries. For example, the TPS
programs also known as Temporary Protected Status was implemented to help certain
countries that had suffered from armed conflict or natural disasters, such as the Haitians
when many received it because of the 2010, 7.0 magnitude earthquake. Another
example is DACA -- Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival. -finish it ( ideas in notecard )
4. After drafting your concession paragraph(s), look at your outline. And answer these
questions:

A) Do you think you will need to rearrange your ideas in the outline? If so, why. If not,
why not?

I think my ideas all align and adding my concession to it won't change much but instead
make it stronger based on how I have everything aligned.

B) Where, exactly, do you plan on integrating your concession into your essay? After
what claim? What paragraph? Explain your plan for revision.

After my 2 claim because after the first two are introduced there will be background
information and a little bit of my opinion in regards to the issues which will help/ make
more sense when I introduce the concession.

5. What is your plan for writing the first draft of the essay? * Due Thursday

My plan is to stay focus and not fall behind in regards to this whole process so in order
to do that I will, write my essay early in the morning so that I don't stress out and try to
write a rushed piece in the night time.
