Curriculum Area: Writer’s Workshop
What I notice
Students are typing a historical fiction book.
Before each period to write, they do word
work where students learn a new word for
the day. Write the definition, write a
sentence, and draw a picture.
They are creating their own story using a
rubric.
The students must have 3 other students
check over their story once they are finished.
The students must look for spelling
corrections, and grammar errors.
Students have been working on this
periodically after learning about WWII
Are able to be creative in their writing and
format in the form of a chapter book
Typing on a google doc that is shared with
the teacher but they also have the option to
write their paper.

Thoughts, Questions, Connections to
Methods Classes
Students are using their own knowledge and
skills learned to help other students.
The teacher is incorporating social studies in
their writing since they only receive social
studies instruction twice a week.
Students are using a narrative writing style.
I like the use of students being able to peer
check. This allows students to work
collaboratively and are able to build social
skills within the classroom.
The use of technology is very evident in the
classroom and is a skill that is continually
being built
They are being able to use different writing
styles in the class.
Work Work is very similar to what we do in
ELED 3226 with Vivid Verbs and is
something that really can be used in the
classroom.
