ACTIVITIES PERFORMED

In the 2-week time immersion, activities were performed. We were oriented on what we
will be doing (e.g. searching for additives), what does OPAS do, what are the programs and
services offered, what is Techno Gabay, how to make a fermented fertilizer. Also we were given
a handful inspirational stories and a bunch of life tips from Dr. Deogracias, Ma'am Gina, Ma'am
Annie.

On the first week, we spend every two hours in every day focusing with our research
paper. We edited, revised, searched for additives that may help in improving our product,
gathered data related to our research topic. As a result, we come up with sodium hydroxide as
whitening agent, ammonium sulfate as preservative, and cornstarch as binder. We tested if these
additives will be effective; however not all the suggested additives were effective. Sodium
hydroxide has no effect in our product therefore this is eliminated. Cornstarch has an effect and it
somehow binds the pulps that are used in our product. It only depends on how much cornstarch
we applied on the solution. Ammonium sulfate is still on observation. As days moved on,
chlorine was suggested as a whitening agent. We tested and resulted to an effective whitening
agent to our product. We finalized the additives and come up with; Cornstarch as binder;
Chlorine as whitening agent; and Ammonium Sulfate as preservative.

On the second week, we were tasked to make fermentation. There were three kinds of
fermentation given namely; fermented fish amino acid, fermented plant juice; and fermented
fruit juice. Fermented fish amino acid were assigned to our group; fermented plant juice was
assigned to Bio plastic group; and fermented fruit juice were assigned to the Cassava Starch
group. For fermented fish amino acid, the materials needed are a half kilo leftover fish bone and
a half kilo molasses. We chopped the fish bone into pieces and mixed it with molasses. Later, put
in a clean container and leave for 15 days. After 15 days, the mixture will be strained and
placed in another clean container and this will be the final product. For fermented plant juice, the
needed materials were a kilo potato leaves, fern leaves, banana bark and molasses. This will
undergo the same process. Lastly, for fermented fruit juice the needed materials were a half kilo
of squash, banana, papaya. This will also undergo the same process.
There were days that were allotted for the
