Masni : Mum, could you help me to finish my Science project on how to save and
protect our marine turtles.
Puan Lina : Yes, of course. How can I help?
Masni : Do you know how many types of marine turtles can be found in Malaysia?
Puan Lina : We have the Green Turtle, the Hawksbill Turtle, the Olive Ridley Turtle
and the famous Leatherback Turtle. They land and lay eggs on Malaysian
beaches. However, their numbers have reduced over the years.
Masni : Yes,that’s why we need to take effective measures to save these creatures
from becoming extinct. How can we do that, Mum?
Puan Lina : We must stop eating their eggs or destroying their natural habitat. We
must stop using fishing nets that can harm or kill these turtles.
Masni : I believe we should not pollute the sea by throwing rubbish or oil into it.
Puan Lina : Exactly! Apart from that, it is also very important to avoid any activities
that can disturb the turtles during their landing and nesting periods.
