appreciation for our country ?
Lee Ann : We can show our love and appreciation for our country by celebrating National
Day every year.
Kamini : We are also encouraged to fly the national flag on our National Day.
Encik Hakimi : Let’s talk about our national flag. What is it called ?
Idith : It is called Jalur Gemilang.
Encik Hakimi : How many stripes are there on the flag ?
Najmi : There are fourteen stripes on the flag.
Encik Hakimi : What do the stripes symbolise ?
Asin : The stripes symbolize the fourteen states in Malaysia.
Encik Hakimi : What about the colours ?
Lee Ann : Yellow symbolises the royal colour of the rulers. Blue symbolises the unity of
the people in Malaysia.
Kamini : Red symbolises bravery, strength and courage.
Idith : White symbolises honesty.
Encik Hakimi : Well pupils, I am proud of all of you because as Malaysians, we must know well
about our national flag.
