I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students must be able to:

 Define the characteristics of Indian music


 Describe various instruments and styles
 Explain the differences between Hindustani and Carnatic music.

II. Subject Matter

a. Topic: Music of India


b. Reference: Learner’s material (Music)
c. Materials: Power point presentation

III. Procedure

A. PREPARATORY ACTIVITY

a. Prayer
b. Checking of attendance
c. Cleaning of surroundings

B. MOTIVATION

a. The teacher will play music about the Indian culture


b. The teacher will ask the students to assess and describe the
textures and elements of music

C. LESSON PROPER

o The teacher will discuss the culture and music of India. S/he will
then distinguish the Carnatic and Hindustani music. Afterwards the
teacher will show the different types of Indian instruments.
D. ACTIVITY

o The students will improvise or use any recycled materials to create


a music instruments.

E. GENERALIZATION

o The teacher will call on some students to sum up the lesson by explaining
the importance of music and how it affects our daily lives and culture.

F. EVALUATION

1.Classify the following instruments, write whether it is Ghana Vadya


(Idiophones), Avanaddha Vadya (Membranophones), Sushira Vadya
(Aerophones) or Tata Vadya (Chordophones).
