II. BACKGROUND/ RATIONALE

March is the National Rabies Awareness Month in the Philippines. In support with this
advocacy of the government to raise public awareness, the Municioal government of Agoo
thru its two agencies, to wit: Municipal Agriculture Office and Municipal Health Office and in
cooperation with the Office of Provincial Veterinarian and with the Agoo Leaders of the Pack
(ALOP), a non- profit group which has a committed heart to love and care for dogs and make
pet’s lives better, will organize an activity for pet animals that will foster responsible pet
ownership.

III. OBJECTIVES
This project aims to counter the lack of awareness on rabies which is considered as a deadly
disease.
Specifically, this aims to:
1. To showcase the result of responsible pet ownership by conducting a pet walk activity;
2. To prevent the spread of rabies within the Municipality of Agoo by providing rabies
vaccination;
3. To promote and protect the health, safety, peace, convenience and general welfare of
the residents of Agoo, La Union.

IV. PROJECT COMPONENTS

The Local Government of Agoo will be organizing a Pet Blessing, Pet Parade Activity with
Information and Education Campaign on March 04, 2018 and Free Rabies Vaccination and
Free Pet Castration tentatively on March 05, 2018. All interested pet owners residing in La
Union are invited for pre- registration for the Pet Blessing and Pet Walk. An Information and
Education Campaign will follow thereafter. The Rabies Vaccination and Pet Castration will be
available to pets residing in Agoo, La Union.
