FREQUENCY RESPONSE ANALYZER
DESCRIPTION:
Digilogic Frequency Response Analyzer is the quantitative measure of
the output spectrum of a system or device in response to a stimulus,
and is used to characterize the dynamics of the system. It is a measure
of magnitude and phase of the output as a function of frequency, in
comparison to the input. In simplest terms, if a sine wave is injected
into a system at a given frequency, a liner system will respond at that
same frequency with a certain magnitude and a certain phase angle
relative to the input.

Use the complex FRF, either real and imaginary parts or magnitude

and phase components, to characterize the dynamic response of the
DUT. Use the magnitude curve of the FRF to indicate the amplitude
accuracy of the DUT.When the DUT reproduces the stimulus signal
with no attenuation of any particular frequency band, the DUT has a
flat magnitude curve.
Performing FRF measurements requires a signal source.Valid
stimulus signals are pure tones, frequency sweeps, and broadband
signals.

Software Defined Radio (SDR) – DSSS CDMA
The Digilogic Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum Radio provides highly reliable communications with high
resistance to interference and interception. The radio establishes a point to point communication link
leveraging the spread spectrum and CDMA techniques. Prototyped based on the NI SDR Platform, the radio
offers flexibility both in terms of hardware and software.
The radio consists of Radio Frequency (RF) transceiver, Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) for signal
processing and a processor for data handling and user interface. Data to be transmitted is read by the radio
over Ethernet interface irrespective of the protocol. The data is then processed and modulated in FPGA
which is then transmitted through omni antenna. External Power Amplifier (PA) and Low Noise Amplifier
(LNA) are used at transmitter and receiver respectively in order to amplify the signal. Received signal is
demodulated and decoded on FPGA. Decoded data is transferred to subsystem over Ethernet interface. The
radio provides full-duplex communication over a Line of Sight (LoS) range of 20km with Jamming to Signal
ratio (J/S) of 21dB.

· Direct-Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) Technique
· CDMA Architecture to achieve additional Processing Gain
· BPSK/QPSK Modulation Shceme

RAPID CONTROL PROTOTYPING
Rapid control prototyping (RCP) is the process of calibrating control algorithms on prototype hardware to
get a device under test up and running before a production-intent electronic control unit is available. RCP
platforms typically provide a method to import mathematical models and run them on a controller with a
real-time OS connected to real-world I/O.
With the LabVIEW FPGA Module and reconfigurable I/O (RIO) hardware, we can deliver an intuitive and off-
the-shelf solution for incorporating the flexibility of FPGA technology into measurement and control
systems. Using LabVIEW graphical programming, you can define the logic in FPGA chips that are embedded
across the family of NI Reconfigurable I/O (RIO) hardware targets without knowledge of low-level hardware
description languages (HDLs), such as VHDL or Verilog, or board-level hardware design. Additionally,
LabVIEW allows you to easily integrate image acquisition/analysis, motion control, and industrial
communication, such as CAN and RS232. Applications ideal for LabVIEW FPGA are applications that often
require custom-built hardware; these applications include: flexible encoder inputs, PWM signal I/O, ultra
high-speed control, custom counter implementation, digital protocol emulation, discrete control, and
custom mix of analog and digital I/O within a single device.
Complete Application Architecture Using LabVIEW FPGA, LabVIEW Real-Time and Host PC
www.digilogicsystems.com
The LabVIEW FPGA Module brings the flexibility, performance, and customization of FPGAs to
measurement and control applications. Using NI RIO devices and LabVIEW graphical programming allows
you to build flexible and custom devices using COTS platforms where the only previous solution was building
custom hardware. The dataflow model and inherent parallelism of the LabVIEW graphical programming
language provides a highly intuitive environment for developing measurement and control applications that
need execution in hardware. Using LabVIEW FPGA as part of your measurement and control system will add
significant flexibility and functionality for applications requiring ultra high-speed control, interfaces to custom
digital protocols, or a custom I/O mix of analog, digital, and counters.

Modular Rugged COTS Solutions :
Modular Rugged COTS Chassis :
Modular Rugged COTS Chassis combines the benefits of PXI(e) platform with ruggedized design.
With the DSPL MIL Standard Modular Rugged COTS Chassis, you are no longer tied to the lab with your
PXI(e) applications. This all-metal industrial and military standard system provides a highly robust enclosure
to protect sensitive measurement modules to withstand harsh environmental conditions and demanding
applications.
This approach again gets limited to laboratory environments usage due to the environmental
specifications of PXIe products. But when the same systems need to be used for deployment in fields, these
COTS based systems are not meeting the required specifications. This result in users wanting to chose a
platform other than PXIe platform for their deployable systems.
To ensure the usage of the PXIe COTS based systems for deployments in field applications, we
designed and developed a Modular Rugged Chassis with NI PXIe products forming the heart of our systems'
design.
The Modular Rugged COTS Chassis offers a full range of features and options including an
innovative forced-air cooling system controlled by built-in temperature sensors. This cooling configuration
provides optimum cooling for the chassis regardless of the type or number of instruments used. Additional
cooling is provided for the system power supply. The chassis has an integrated heater for allowing the system
to run at Low Temperature conditions. The DSPL MIL Standard PXI(e) system can also be remotely
controlled via Ethernet by any external device
www.digilogicsystems.com
System Design :
Ÿ We designed our Modular Rugged Chassis with the following components:
Ÿ NI PXIe 1075, 18 Slot PXIe backplane
Ÿ Power Supply for the PXIe backplane
Ÿ Various Electronic Components like Air Inlet Fans,Air Outlet Fans,AC Line Filters,Temperature Sensors,
Heaters (for low temperature operation)
Ÿ PXIe controller & PXIe IO Modules (based on application needs)
We utilized Forced Air Cooling method for thermal management within our Modular Rugged
Chassis. The air flow in our system is from Front to Rear. All the Inputs & Outputs from various PXIe modules
will be terminated into standard Series-III MIL Circular Connectors fitted in a Connector Plate on both front
& rear side of the system. The type and no of connectors on this Connector Plate can be configured based on
the PXIe configuration to be used.
Based on the success of this design, we are able to generate interest for our Modular Rugged System with
which already two such systems have been delivered to customers and are in field usage presently.
The DSPL MIL Standard PXI(e) System is designed with maintainability in mind by reducing the mean time to
repair & replace. The assembly is very modular with removable power supply, fan assembly and filter tray,
which simplifies on-site diagnostics and replacement of any failed components.
