In-class Digital Rhetoric

Part 1: What inequities form the foundation of the world that you built?
Part 2: How might technology improve or mediate those inequities?

 Inequities that formed the foundation of SpaceSpur were, racism, a strong military, low
government involvement, class inequality and an overwhelming technological influence.
 Since technology was a strong influence, it mediated the world in that it influenced
aspects of the military, helped when having a balanced food supply, and helped in trade
since our two main products were gold and marijuana. Since there was low government
involvement, making the military more high-tech strengthened a societal aspect of
SpaceSpur even though it was more of a vigilante-run government. Also, since
technology played such an influential role in the world, it can be seen in almost all of the
inequities. In terms of racism, there were two combative races, one of which was
genderless and part machine. However, I think technology could mediate racism in that
instead of the focus being on differences between the two races, they can come together
to improve technology even more or figure out how it can be traded with other worlds
since it is so abundant. This could also improve the imbalanced classism by bridging the
two different classes together.
