Lesson Plan for Thinking and Communicating with Clarity and Precision

Learning Objective:
- Students will be able to explain and define the Thinking and Communicating with Clarity
and Precision
- Students will be able to discuss and Communicating with Clarity and Precision and
apply it to their personal lives

Length:
- 30 minutes

Materials:
- Summary of Habits of Mind
- Y-Chart
- Define Thinking and Communicating with Clarity and Precision
- Chart paper

Instructions
Introductory Activity (15 minutes)
- Teacher: Passes out ​Summary of Habits of Mind
- Students: Read up to Persisting
- Teacher: Asks “What are habits of mind?” and facilitate a discussion
- Student: Discusses what they just read
- Teacher: Passes out chart paper and ​Y-Chart​. States “We will only be focusing and
practicing one habit of mind, Thinking and Communicating with Clarity and Precision. As
a group, copy the Y-Chart onto the chart paper and complete the poster as a group.
Make sure to keep all the materials because we will be doing this 15 more times
throughout the school year.”
- Students: Write out everything they know about Thinking and Communicating with
Clarity and Precision on the chart paper
- Teacher: Brings student back for another discussion and share out of what they wrote

Core Activity (10 minutes)


- Teacher: Passes out ​Define Thinking and Communicating with Clarity and Precision​ and
tells students to only use the Thinking and Communicating with Clarity and Precision row
- Students: Complete the worksheet individually

Reflection Activity (5 minutes)


- Teacher: Asks students to complete exit ticket
- Students: Complete exit ticket
