a) The cause of anxiety from the behavioral perspective

can be shown by observational learning. Many people
watch others’ behavior and then display the same act as
they did. From a psychoanalytic or psychodynamic
perspective, anxiety is caused by past experiences that are
kept in the unconscious or subconscious mind this can
make a person anxious when they are reminded of past
traumatic experiences, The cause of anxiety from a
biological view can stem from genetic or hereditary. This
means that anxiety can run in the family. The cause of
anxiety from a cognitive view states that anxiety is caused
by the way one thinks.

1.b) Counter-conditioning can be used as behavioral

treatment for reducing anxiety. It attempts to replace bad or
unpleasant emotional responses to a stimulus with more
pleasant, adaptive responses. Free association can be used
as a Psychoanalytic or psychodynamic treatment. This
process explores the unconscious in which the person
relaxes and says whatever comes to mind, no matter how
embarrassing. Biological Treatment includes specific anti
anxiety drugs like Xanax, Valium. Xanax and Valium,
having a calm effect on people that have trouble with
anxiety. Rational-Emotive Therapy can be used as a
cognitive technique to help treat anxiety. This therapy
teaches the client to identify, evaluate, dispute, and act
against his or her irrational beliefs, helping the client feel
and get better.
2.a) For the operational definitions of variables, the two
most common variables will be television violence which is
typically the predictor or independent variable and violent
crime which is usually the outcome or dependent variable.
For the selection of participants, a procedure such as
random sampling like selecting the entire teenage
population of Mira Mesa could apply to my study. For
generalizability, the study can be applied to a population
larger than or different from the participant sample, if the
teenage population from other cities lives in similar
conditions. Two ethical considerations are that the
information about individual participants must be
confidential, and participants must be debriefed.

2.b) Other than the variables applied to this correlational

study, I agree with the police chief’s conclusion. Unrelated
variables such as family environments or peer relationships
can influence a teenager’s violent behavior.
