Re: Kapre Filhart

To Whom It May Concern:

It is my pleasure to provide this letter of support for Ms. Kapre Filhart’s application for a teaching position. I
have known Kapre as a student in several of my classes here at Alma College. I have also observed her work in
professional settings including a state education conference. As her vita, academic transcript, and this letter
would show, Kapre has been outstanding in building her content knowledge, leadership skills, and experience
working with children.

To receive Honors in Education a teacher candidate must have a very high GPA, write an optional Thesis which
must be rated as of honors caliber by a committee of Teacher Educators, and must show teaching and
professional skills which exceed those of average beginning teachers. Kapre’s Honors in Education prove that
she will be a high achieving teacher who goes beyond the minimum. Her Student Teaching Excellence award
further shows Kapre is an extraordinary teacher who will be a great addition to any school district, a teacher that
parents wish to have.

Furthermore, she completed a Language Arts major. This content area has prepared her for the Language Arts
emphasis in schools, including in upper elementary. Her many years of working experience at a Daycare Center
have given her additional practitioner experience for lower elementary. She is ready and prepared to serve
schools where she is needed.

Ms. Filhart has demonstrated leadership skills through her research on Technology Integration in K-8
Classrooms. In her study, she analyzed how teachers across Michigan are using technology in their classrooms.
Through this research she demonstrated she can seek resources from other teachers, easily learn from the
veteran teachers and take leadership roles as well. She presented her research findings at multiple professional
meetings including Michigan Academy of Science, Arts and Letters, a state conference attended by many
educators. Kapre’s oral presentations are very elegant. She creatively and thoughtfully combines evidence, key
insights, and detail to develop ideas for her audience. She is a motivated speaker who always manages to inspire
her audience. I have observed Kapre teach others with patience and poise in ways that they could immediately
understand. Her teaching is responsive to learners’ needs.

These examples demonstrate that she will be a well-started novice with leadership skills in education beyond
her experience, and as someone who will consistently seek resources to support her professional growth. I
believe that Kapre will continue to thrive as a teacher. She has the personal and professional attributes, and
experience that will make her a valuable addition to your school. I offer my strongest recommendation for
Kapre.

Sincerely yours,
