Minutes From Patient Experience Champions Meeting

Agenda

 Kim Urban briefed the attendees about the role that the patient experience champions will play in
the wards to drive the initiative of improving our press garnet scores
 Although the overall objective is to improve across all areas of the survey,the press garney patient
experience survey indicates areas that are a priority for the patients in which we have a lower
rating from patients compared to other areas.
 These areas include:response to calls for help and patients being kept informed.
 The hospital as a whole will focus on these areas to improve our ratings.
 The wards will choose atleast two areas of the survey to focus on improving the
ratings.However,atleast one has to be a hospital focus area described in the point above.
 The role of the champions will be to drive the process of the ward choosing these focus areas as
well as forming actions plans with realistic outcomes.
 The ward will focus on these areas for three month periods and then evaluate the progress made in
the survey ratings.
 Kim Urban emphasised the importance of setting realistic goals that are achievable instead of
plans that look great on paper but are not practical
 Kim also added that every year the hospital will award the best performing ward with a floating
patient experience trophy and a "significant price"
 Kim also said she would arrange to individually meet each patient experience champion to provide
clarification regarding any questions and provide guidance regarding exactly what duties of the
champions will be.
