Lead Pastor

Office hours Monday –Thursday 8:30am -5:00pm, Sunday mornings and evenings as required (40 hours
+ per week)

Overview

The lead pastor demonstrates strong faith, is humble and transparent, and models dependence upon God.
He/she works collaboratively with other ministry leaders to develop and boldly cast vision. The pastor
motivates and inspires others to be followers of Jesus; is an effective communicator through relevant and
practical teaching/preaching; and has a solid biblical theological understanding. This person loves
people, cares for the lost, and takes interest in the community.

Responsibility 1: Vision (20%): Responsible to develop, maintain, and communicate a shared vision and
direction of the church through collaboration of the church board and staff. Helping us to become a
multiplying church that effectively reaches out to the neighbourhoods in which we reside. Help Glencairn
be a welcoming environment where the unchurched love to attend. Ensure the overall operation of the
church fits within it’s stated vision, including such things as budget setting, facility usage, and decision
making.

Responsibility 2: Teaching (35%): Development of major themes and Scriptural texts to cover as a
church throughout the year. Preparing 30 + sermons per year that are relevant, clear and biblical.

Responsibility 3: Administration (20%): Bring organizational effectiveness to the church, that supports
our vision and can make decisions, empower leaders, and reach our community for Christ. Provide clear
communication to Elders, Ministry team leaders, and the congregation in order that people feel heard,
issues have been processed well, and we can move in unity to fulfil our goals. Oversee marketing and
branding of the church on website, and social media in association with others.

Responsibility 4: Leadership Development (20%): Develop job descriptions and administer job
evaluations for staff members. Lead and have weekly meetings. Ensure Ministry leaders have clear job
descriptions, are equipped and empowered to fulfill the vision of the church within their ministry role.

Responsibility 5: Counselling (5%) Meeting with people in the church to address relational, emotional
and spiritual issues as appropriate.

Accountabilities: Agreement with MB Confession of Faith, and Mission and Vision statement of the
church. Submits to the elders of the church. Participates in a Life Group, and fully engages in the life of
the church.
