Hiroshima Prefecture
Hiroshima, said to be the epitome of Japan, faces the scenic Seto Inland Sea to the south and mountainous Chugoku region to
the north. Not only blessed with a beautiful natural enviroment, it also has a pleasant temperate climate year-round.
Hiroshima, home to two World Heritage sites - the Hiroshima Peace Memorial (A-Bomb Dome) and Itsukushima Shrine - has
something to offer all year round. Residents and visitors can enjoy the breathtaking cherry blossoms in the spring,
swimming and marine sports in the summer, vibrantly colored maple leaves in autumn and skiing in winter. The unique
local cuisine prepared with treasures from the surrounding waters and mountains is yet another of Hiroshima's many
attractions.

The old Kure City was once known around
the world as one of the largest naval bases
in the east. Today, ship manufacturing
technologies form the base for the
de-velopment of science, technology and
enviromental preservation, at the hands of
numerous local industries. Historic buildings
and museums can still be found around the
city amongst the beautiful parks and at
night, roadside food stalls line the river.
