● Prompt: To what extent was McCarthyism and the Red Scare justified in
America during the 1950s?

McCarthyism and Red scare was a dangerous threat to the united states.
Mccarthyism is a campaign or practice that endorses the use of unfair allegations
and inventions. Americans fear the soviets because the spread of communism,
their atomic bombs and spies. According to the document it stated that the
soviets started out with “180,000,000 people” six years later “there are
800,000,000 people under the absolute domination of soviet russia and increase
of over 400 percent.” This evidence shows that the soviets gained a bigger
population and it feared the US because the more the population grows the more
communist they have and americans wanted to avoid the spread of communism.
The soviets also feared the US with their weapons and how they were extremely
powerful. In our last paideia it was stated that countries were “affected by the
radiation” from their weapons and it caused the people to have “a disease” which
lead millions of people to their death . If the radiation from one bomb can affect
other countries imagine what it can do to the US. The americans were also feared
with soviet spies,even americans spied on their own countries and betrayed
them. For example in the rosenberg film it stated that julius rosenberg “presented
the soviets with fully assembled proximately fuse which was used in radar
devices” this shows that julius was spying on the bombs that the US was using
and provided the soviets with their secret military products from the US. This is
one of the reasons julius rosenberg got the trial he received because he betrayed
and spied on his own country. Not only was he a spy to be worried about but his
wife ethel rosenberg was also aware of the secret military weapons and high
knowledge she should not be aware of. In the video it states Ethel was aware of
“topic secret information and had conspired with her husband to create a
espenas ” This show that ethel was in on the plan of giving away information
about the atomic bombs with her husband, this also shows she and her husband
are spies together. Mccarthyism made a big impact on america because
communist violations and spies violations. To protect themselves from this they
did anything in there power to keep their country safe on the inside.
