KTPS/INTASC 3: Learning Environments

The Classroom management plan serves as my artifact for Standard 3, for creating environments
that support individual and collaborative learning that encourages positive social interaction,
active engagement and self-motivation. In this artifact you see my beliefs about education and
what procedures the students and teachers must do to make sure the classroom runs smooth and
safely.
The Classroom Management Plan also includes the classroom expectations because without
expectations we can see that classes can get out of control. I want to establish routines within my
class such as how to title a paper, and what is expected when students enter the classroom. I feel
that this is an excellent artifact for this standard as it outlines how I will use my beliefs to create
the best learning environment for my students. With expectations in place it can help the teacher
not lose a lot of instructional time.
In my Classroom Management Plan, I adapted the “Assertive Discipline Plan”. I have included a
discipline hierarchy, as well as a severe clause within my plan. The Assertive Discipline Plan
avoids the teacher from being too harsh, or too easy within the classroom and promoting content
instruction that is not interrupted. If it is interrupted the discipline hierarchy is in place, but is
never taken to the next day.
