Economic Indicators of Haiti:

Haiti, the Western Hemisphere’s poorest and most deforested country, is plagued by corruption,
gang violence, drug trafficking, organized crime, and a general lack of economic opportunity.
Poor monetary administration and devastating catastrophic events have taken an awful human
and financial toll. An overwhelming quake obliterated a significant part of the fundamental
financial foundation in 2010, and later tropical storm harm has intensified the issue. The
universal group has aided recuperation and remaking endeavors. Haiti's institutional limit with
respect to financial policymaking has been convoluted by the nonappearance of a steady
government since February 2016. The viability of open fund has been seriously undermined by
political instability that further debilitates an officially frail govern of law.
GDP is defined as the value of all final goods and services produced in a country within a given
period of time. The GDP of Haiti (2017 estimate) is about 7.8 billion dollars. GDP per capita is
defined as a measure of a country's economic output that accounts for population. It divides the
country's gross domestic product by its total population. That makes it the best measurement of a
country's standard of living. The Nominal GDP per capita of Haiti is about 713.6 USD. Now
let’s take a look at how Haiti’s GDP per capita compares to other countries. The highest GDP per
capita is Luxenbourg with a GDP value of 101,715 USD. The lowest GDP per capita is Malawi
of 322 USD. Now from these two values we can examine that Haiti is far from having a high
GDP per capita as it is found on the lower end of the spectrum. This tells us much about the
economic standards of Haiti. Per capita GDP can be used to measure the productivity of a
country's workforce, as it measures the total output of goods and services per each member of the
workforce in a given nation. The fact that Haiti’s per capita is so low, the productivity of the
workforce is reflective as a result, the standard of living in Haiti is very low.
To further prove this statement, lets look at other factors. To begin lets start with Income
statistics.
