To Whom It May Concern,

At Glencoe High School we speak of leadership in terms of serving others. Rebekah

McClain is the epitome of that concept.

I have had the wonderful opportunity to get to know Rebekah over the last two years as
the advisor for Glencoe High School’s ASB. Rebekah currently serves on Glencoe High
School’s ASB, as its Secretary. Rebekah demonstrates a commitment to her community
and her school, while maintain an amazing academic record. I was immediately
impressed with her energy, her passion, and devotion to serve others.

Obviously, Rebekah has proven she has a strong academic foundation. She has earned a
3.86 GPA while taking many AP classes. While Rebekah’s academic record is
impressive by itself; and would warrant acceptance to any college, but it in no way
defines the young woman that Rebekah is.

Along with her academics endeavors, Rebekah has been involved in numerous activities
throughout high school, including cross country, track and soccer. While apart of
leadership at GHS, Bekah has been a part of many fundraising and community service
projects like the Canned Food Drive for the Hillsboro Elks, Doernbecher Children’s
Hospital, and our annual Veterans Assembly to name just a few. Rebekah has also been a
valuable member of our Surf Tide Crew that helps incoming freshmen adjust to high
school. This is the first year of the organization and Bekah has been instrumental in the
development and the feedback with this program. Along with being an amazing role
model and peer to her group of freshmen.

Rebekah’s maturity is one of her strengths. I have always been impressed with the
manner in which she can analyze a problem or situation, and understand all of the
different viewpoints. She is capable of then weighing those issues and making mature
decisions about what is best for the most people. I can honestly say that Bekah is one of
the most selfless young person I have met in 24 years as an educator. Her integrity is
unquestionable and has earned my trust as a student advocate.

Along with school activities and service groups, Rebekah has been a leader in community
groups that serve not only the Glencoe community, but reaches out beyond those borders.

As a member of ASB, Rebekah she has demonstrated the ability to lead others. She has
served in leadership over the last two years at Glencoe High School, and has made a
verifiable and direct impact on her school community, and the larger community of
Glencoe itself. Rebekah approaches serving others with a passion. In fact, she approaches
life with a passion. Rebekah has shared that she wishes to seek a degree in nursing, and
will be attending the University of Portland to fulfill that dream. I have no doubt that she
will be an amazing college student and a very successful nurse. Rebekah has
demonstrated a track record of success. She has created that success for herself with her
hard work and dedication. I know Rebekah McClain will be successful in life. She will
be an involved community member and a role model for people to look up to. I am
extremely proud to have had Rebekah McClain as a student, and it is without hesitation
that I recommend to you Rebekah McClain for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Charles F. Self, Jr.
